Meet Ringo – a five month old pit bull mix puppy with a broken leg (lateral condylar fracture of the distal humerus). Ringo was surrendered to San Francisco Animal Care and Control in February by his owner who could not afford the medical care that Ringo needed. He has such a sweet disposition that the shelter supervisor called Grateful Dogs Rescue's Administrative Director, Kim Durney, to ask if Grateful Dogs Rescue would be willing to take him in.

  This is Ringo.

Grateful Dogs Rescue knew there was a chance Ringo would be euthanized if GDR didn't agree to take him, so of course we did. He had surgery to repair the fracture on March 13th. He is now recuperating from the surgery in his foster home. The most frustrating part is trying to keep an active, happy puppy confined so he can heal properly from this difficult surgery.

The Serramonte Volkswagen donation program (see http://gratefuldogsrescue.org/serramnonte-volkswagen-serramonte-subaru) will enable Grateful Dogs Rescue to save other deserving dogs like Ringo in the coming months.
